Mondo Music’s vision of teaching is based on a new, dynamic and innovative approach to learning.
Our personalized lessons go beyond conventional instruction to engage students, foster critical thinking, creativity, self-expression and self-discovery
The most traditional learning method that emphasizes the study of music notation, solfège, music theory, and rigid technique as a prerequisite to play a music instrument may not be suitable for all learners and can be excessively restrictive.
Perfectionistic and overly structured music practices can actually be limiting and counterproductive. They can cause students to feel overwhelmed and pressured, ultimately leading to a loss of motivation and enthusiasm.
Our teaching methodology challenges the conventional lesson structure. Mastering the fundamental principles of music theory and technique unfolds naturally and gradually through playing and cultivating a joyful, creative, and enduring relationship with the music instrument.
Every child learns differently.
We adapt lessons to specifically suit their unique personalities and learning style.
We encourage improvisation and experimentation to help students develop their unique musical voice and expression.
We introduce our students to various repertoires and allow them to select their favorites, rather than imposing classical music scores or traditional easy children’s songs for the youngest learners.
When necessary, we employ visual cues instead of conventional sheet music, facilitating students’ ability to memorize patterns and play an entire piece of music.
This method rewards the learners and boosts their confidence, keeps them focused on taking on new music challenges and gradually prepares them for a more technical learning approach, propelling them forward in their music journey.
PERFORMANCE IS THE CORNERSTONE OF OUR INSTRUCTION
We are a performance-based school that believes that performing should be the starting point and not just a possible future destination for a student’s music journey, regardless of whether they decide to return to the stage or experience it only once.
In addition to having music degrees or master’s degrees, all our teachers are professional performers, recording and touring artists. They share with their students the excitement, dedication, and motivation that come with preparing for a performance.
Children of all levels, from very beginners to advanced, approach every lesson and every new music piece they work on as a performance opportunity.
It’s not just about reading and writing notes, playing an instrument, or singing in a mechanical, repetitive, and impersonal way.
While we guide young students through establishing and maintaining consistent practice habits by teaching them the importance of discipline and repetition, each lesson is different and mimics the preparation for a show.
Our lessons focus on allowing students to create and develop their unique style and connect with the performer within themselves. This connection serves as a tool to access the most creative, active, and effective learning experience.
Children participate in two shows a year, which provide them with the opportunity to showcase their talents in front of an audience and connect with other fellow performers and instructors.
Our shows are not the usual “recitals.” They take place in theaters and music venues with professional stages, lighting, sound checks, and sound engineers.
Each show is hosted by one of our young students who gets to experience what it means to take the lead and make the other performers feel good about themselves and what they are offering on stage.
